Born of the countryside, handmade in the city...

Foxgloves London, the brand, was created to convey my love for both of these special environments which I have called home.

Working from my East London studio I produce finely hand-crafted jewellery in silver and gold, reflecting my enduring love of the British countryside. My aim is to create pieces with a natural elegance and lots of subtle detail; I like to add an unexpected touch to many of my designs, which engages the wearer and adds a contemporary dimension.

Each piece starts out in my sketch book, as a hand-drawn design, which I then bring to life in precious metal, using traditional metalsmithing methods. Individual elements are meticulously hand-pierced or formed using a selection of jeweller's tools. Intricate detail is then hand-engraved.

I also enjoy wax carving as a method for making some of my particularly detailed components. The finely carved wax models are used to create casts in precious metal, all of which are finished and put together by hand in my studio.

Tanya  Leyland

jewellery designer, silversmith, goldsmith, gemmologist

From the buzz of the countryside to the hum of the city.....

Inspiration for my designs very much stems from a childhood spent exploring Wiltshire's patchwork of fields and hedgerows, getting lost in its woodlands; a time to dream.

These days I seek out Nature's gems with equal vigour all around my London home and beyond, I don't have to look far to find something beautiful that captivates my imagination.

I will forever be sparked by the challenge of reflecting Nature's unique intricacies in my jewellery, which can then be treasured and enjoyed for a lifetime.

My training and the qualifications I have gained over the last 20 years lie in jewellery-making, both traditional and contemporary, designing and gemmology.
